Comrades, we are nearing the end of the season and madness need not be encouraged. Yet here, in Pedro Almodóvar’s 1988 Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, we have a magical lens that somehow puts focus on that madness manifest within the mere male who projects and sprays his thin, pathetic posturing onto the women who actually hold the shit that is this world together. With the Franco veil coming off and a glimmer of liberal potentiality peering between the cracks, the most appropriate reaction to this moral modernity is logical hysteria. With an explosion of saturated colours and noise, we have the most rational response to male stupidity. Duck your heads when the vinyls fly.
